Ingredients:
- 1.5kg of pork (I paid $43 for 3kg of pork butt aka pork shoulder)
- 500ml - 750ml of A & W Root Beer
- 1 bottle of Heinz BBQ Sauce (Regular)
Steps:
- Wash pork and place it in the slow cooker.
- Pour in root beer.
- Cook on high for 5-6 hours.
- Remove pork.
- Shred using fork(s).
- Pour away root beer.
- Put shredded pork back in slow cooker.
- Pour BBQ sauce and mix it into the pork. (I added mixed herbs and chili flakes as well.)
- Cook on high for 1 hour.
Serving Suggestions:
- 1.5kg of pork can serve 12-15 people.
- You can serve it on toasted buns (with coleslaw as recommended), use it as a filling for wraps (with lettuce or alfalfa sprouts, which we had), or even stir it into risotto.
